Giving feedback to peers

I made many mistakes in my career. One of them was giving feedback to my peers without their permission. You can do that as a person’s superior but not if you are their peer. Doing so puts you above the person receiving feedback. I suppose I had an ego problem but when you are giving feedback to somebody with an ego, you will clash violently.
