I am your vendor at the end

She says “I am your vendor at the end”. That makes sense if you subscribe to gig economy but that seems to devalue working as part of a team, bonding with your team mates, becoming something bigger than the sum of individuals. Blind (social network) people think more waves of layoffs are coming later this year. Being a cohesive, highly organized, and organic team is going to become even more important as there will be less of us working for these companies but the work isn’t going away. Economy means efficiency. The goal of layoffs is to drive efficiency. Organizations grow in cycles of extensive (sheer numbers) and qualitative growth. We are in a period we need to drive quality higher like doing more work using AI (start using GitHub Copilot if you code). We need to prioritize work better and do work that is highest ROI. We need to reduce wasted resources. Numbers game is done for now. And yet we have an ever growing number of software engineers on the market. That’s where the vendor trend comes in. We will see a huge increase in the number of small companies offering various software and AI services and products. There is a lot of demand out there for this talent from companies and individuals that could not afford these services before and now they can. The days of 500-750 TC are not done because of inflation but in relative terms (buying power) they are fading.
